Michael has vast experience in private equity with an emphasis on Latin America.
In 1990, Michael joined the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) and in 2000 the company transferred him to Latin America, where he lived for six years. He took responsibility for several new investments and followed-up on existing ones, managing and diversifying CDC’s equity portfolio worth US$250 million throughout the region. Here he learned about achieving maximum value from equity investments through different parts of the investment cycle and about patient investment and partnership with local entrepreneurs.
Michael was involved with Actis since CDC in 2004 and returned to London to become Head of Energy at Actis in August 2006, diversifying its first energy fund and raising its second one the following year. In 2011, Michael moved back to Latin America, as Actis seeks to further expand its business in the region.
Michael is an economist from Durham University.
